The first leg of the Million Dollar Highway definitely lived
up to its name. At one point while in the valley you felt as though you were at
the base of all the mountains; completely surrounded. Then before you knew it you were riding to heights
of over 12,000 feet. As you ride up one mountain you can look across the valley
and see where you will be next. The roads were perfect, didn’t experience any
rock slides and the edge of the road seemed a little closer; maybe because of
the tremendous drop straight down from the edge of the road. Next stop is
Ouray, a small touristy town where we stopped and walked around, took some pics
and headed off to Silverton.
