Got up to another beautiful day and decided I would actually stay here until 0800 for Vera’s breakfast rather than immediately hit the road which would be my norm. With the bike packed-out and ready to go I sat down to a huge breakfast, actually had to stop her from loading my plate. There was fruit, toast (huge toast, their version of Texas toast I guess), coffee, orange juice, something I think she called “strata” which was like French toast, ham, eggs baked together with a crispy breadcrumb type topping (real good), home fries and all kinds of jams/jelly’s; ate with three other couples, one couple from Washington DC who shared a horror story about the auto car out of Sanford Florida that made out trip sound like a pleasure ride. The ride out of Rocky Harbour heading towards Deer Lake is simply majestic. If you are a motorcyclist this island needs to be added to your bucket list. Continuing on to Twillingate was an uneventful 425 KM. It’s amazing how there are never any cars around, it’s almost like nobody drives. I always have the road basically to myself; I’ll expect that to change in a few days when I hit St John’s. Talked to the guy whose ultra is pictures here (love the wheels on this Ultra, he said they are stock?) and he said the weather had been in the 30’s until Sunday and thanked me for bringing the Florida weather with me. Said this is a very early start to their summer weather…I’ll take it! Got to Twillingate and went to the Auk Island Winery and was going to ship some wine home but some law that went into effect yesterday prevents them from shipping outside Canada. They have a new wine that just came out today that is made with Screech Rum, I will bring a bottle of that back…if I get through customs. I checked into another B&B, yep two in a row, called Harbour Lights Inn, another spotless place. I think they have a thing about bathrooms here, they are all spotless, even the gas stations…check out the picture I added with the sign. Rode out to the Long Point Lighthouse where the views were amazing…usually see whales here but no whales today. Did see one wild animal tho…off to Bonavista Tomorrow
