Today was basically a travel day, up at 0400 to get to the
airport. Eventually landed in Denver at 1130, caught the train and headed to
Union Station downtown. EagleRider had a lyft sent and it was there to pick us
up within minutes. After going through all the typical rental stuff we were on
the road, finally. Heading down I-70 to Idaho Springs we soon ran into a lot of
traffic so we jumped off at rt 58 and rode through Golden Co. Exiting to Clear
Creek Canyon Rd was a great choice, riding deep within the canyons of the
Rockies the scenery was spectacular. This rolled us right into Idaho Springs
where we pulled into the hotel and right across the street was Dale all the way
from Kansas. We got some BBQ, first meal since 0400 and decided to head to Mt
Evans, Unfortunately with the light sprinkling of rain and the temps dropping
the visibility was so bad we could barely see the road much less the switchbacks.
It had been a really long day so we
decided to head back and call it a day. A great day none the less.
