Today turned out to be a hurry up and wait day just like
yesterday. I called for my pick-up at 0900 with hopes of getting in the shop
and getting in the road. About 0920 a pickup
truck pulls out and the guy asks if I’m waiting on Mom’s. Whaa, no! So after a
few minutes of the both of us standing around he asks if I’m waiting on Eagle
Riders, and then explains moms is Motorcycles of Manchester and Eagle Riders is
a part of this shop. Well ok let’s go get the bike. By the time we got there I was # 8 in line;
they rent the heck out of bikes there. I rented a 2013 Ultra and it has 19,000
miles on it. So the paper work is done and it’s time to go over the bike.
Before I pack it out I ask for the keys; guess what got lost! This bike has no
fob or security so without a key to lock the forks its never secure. So they
made a run to HD and got some keys, another wait. It was about 1130 when I
finally got on the road. Rode as far as St Johnsbury Vt and got some lunch. The
bike is great 103 CU vs my 98 CU BUT…it has no cruise control, no highway pegs
and the seat is a lot harder; the gas mileage is a lot better than mine. I am so glad I took my rider backrest off my
bike and brought it with me. I put it on in the parking lot of the restaurant
and aaahhhh! Never would have made the trip without it. Back on the road and heading for the border.
Not a lot of cars at customs, this should be quick. But no, of course not. I
get pulled over for a complete search, actually asked if my seat comes off,
then had to go inside, they said for a full background investigation. This five hour trip took about 7.5 hours.
Finally get to Quebec City and check in to the hotel. Walked around and stopped
and had supper at the Belle Gueule, delicious salad and club sandwich. Tomorrow will
be walk-about day in Quebec, hopefully there will be pics posted.
